Spring is right around the corner and summer is not far behind. Maybe you've begun planning the family's vacation, but what will you do with the family pet while you're gone? Paws 'n Claws Pet Resort, owned by Patti and Rob Tuznik is the perfect solution for pet owners boarding and grooming needs.
Located just minutes from downtown Girard at 8960 South Creek Road, Paws 'n Claws is a state of the art facility.
The 2,000 square foot building was designed to be a home away from home for pets, including, dogs, cats, hamsters, ferrets, birds, turtles, rabbits and even fish. Animals boarding at Paws'N Claws will feel right at home while they are soothed by piped-in classical music, TV and air conditioning in a relaxing, 12-acre-plus country setting. At night, overhead recessed lights are dimmed to a soothing level.
The building floors are covered in porcelain that is sealed, practically eliminating any odors that can occur when housing multiple animals. They are also heated in the winter months for additinal comfort. The 20 indoor and outdoor runs, or condos, as they're called by Rob, are each enclosed on both sides for the privacy and comfort of each animal. The runs are available in three sizes to suit the particular animal.
"This has been a dream of ours for about 14 years," said Patti. "Our whole family, including our three children, love animals."
Although the resort is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., drop-off and pick-up times for boarders is flexible.
Pet boarding fees are $12 to $17 per day, depending on the size of the animal. For first time guests, a complimentary shampoo and toenail cut is included. If you become a little homesick while away and need to check in and find out how your pet is making out, you can call a toll-free number provided by Paws'N Claws to put your mind at ease. In addition to boarding and grooming, the resort also offers pet day care, full pet grooming and bathing spa and an indoor-outdoor video security system.
Along with the pet resort, Patti is also a breeder of Lhasa Apsos. Lottsa Lhasa Love Kennels is another passion and full-time job for the Tuzniks. "We really love all the animals," said Patti. "Not too long ago we had a boarder who was terribly stressed out by its first-time boarding. So I slept with the dog in the run in order to calm him down. There's not much we won't do in order to make our guests feel right at home.
Pets visiting the resort must have proof of up-to-date vaccinations.
Paws 'n Claws also specializes in grooming for dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds. For more information about Paws'N Claws Pet Resort or Lottsa Lhasa Love Kennels, visit www.pawsnclawspetresort.com, or call 774-PAWS (7297).
